How to Install Retro Arch on Linux

In order to get Sony PSP games working in Retro Arch, you must install the program. With a wide variety of Linux operating systems available, it can be tough to get started. So follow the step-by-step guide below for more success!

For the best experience with Retro Arch on Linux, open the application and go to “Online Updater.” From there, update the Retro Arch assets.

If you neglect to update your assets, Retro Arch might be missing fonts as well as other icons. Additionally, you could experience unsightly UI issues like black squares.

    Turn on the Core Downloader

Although the “Core Downloader” is turned off by default when you install Retro Arch, it is possible to re-enable it through a few steps.

Step 1: Remove all old Retro Arch configuration files from your computer through the terminal.

Step 2: With the Core Downloader turned on, download your new configuration file.

Step 3: Put the configuration file on your Linux PC.

If the Core Downloader doesn’t work as intended, try downloading the Flatpak or Snap release of Retro Arch.

You can play PSP games in Retro Arch by using “cores.” Cores are library files that enable you to play games on various systems. Before you can start playing PSP games, though, you will need to download and install the Sony PSP core.

Step 2: To find the “Core Downloader” section, either use your mouse or arrow keys on the keyboard to select it, and then press Enter.

In the “Core Downloader” area, you’ll find a wide variety of game consoles and specialized video games (DOOM, QUAKE, etc.), with Sony’s PlayStation Portable near the top of the list.

Step 3: After you hover over “Sony – PlayStation Portable” on the main page, click or press enter to access the core in Retro Arch. Then, find and select “Sony – PlayStation Portable (PPSSPP)” from the list of cores to installing PSP onto your device.
